Position Overview 

The Sales Engineer has an important role as the lead technical resource for visibility, security, and monitoring projects. In this role, the Sales Engineers will be able to answer technical inquiries from customers regarding Niagara networks technology, features, solutions, applications as well as articulate Niagara networks technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.

Essential Functions

• Provide the technical expertise to the sales group to meet quota goals and increase market share
• Perform pre-qualification technical due diligence of opportunities, bid/no-bid recommendations
• Engage with customers, partners, colleagues and, the sales team as a mentor and subject matter expert advisor
• Deliver technical presentations, the “perfect pitch” to generate customer interest
• Consult, engineer, plan and execute local, regional, and countrywide network designs and solutions
• Produce technical architectures that are dependable, modifiable, and scalable
• Interface with customers to determine technical requirements feasibility and expectations
• Manage the technical aspect to RFPs, RFI’s
• Prepare high quality, accurate and timely responses to technical requirements received from customers in the field
• Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand technical requirements.
• Assist in the sale cycle by educating the customer on Niagara Networks products and solution
• Participate in POC during the sales cycle

Additional Duties

• Train sales partners on Niagara Networks products and solutions
• Provide technology sessions to the sales organization
• Prepare and publish whitepapers on competitors’ products and solutions
  
  

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Must possess a subject matter expert knowledge level on cyber security, visibility technologies, and solutions
• Strong applied knowledge on Ethernet, networking, 10G, 40G, and 100G technologies
• Demonstrated extensive knowledge of TCP/IP and application security in a service provider and large enterprise environment is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, listening, and presentation skills
• Ability and willingness to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues, and solutions
• Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills

Required Education and Experience 

• BS, BA, or Equivalent Work Experience in the Industry
• Minimum 4 years of experience working in Sales, engineering, or consulting

Role Requirements

In this important role at Niagara Networks, you will oversee technical sales efforts, GTM, and business growth in your territory.

• Responsible for acquiring and managing key accounts
• Develop and maintain detailed account profiles including organizational charts for all accounts to be reviewed by management on a quarterly basis
• Facilitate communication on strategic and tactical issues facing our clients and partners.
• Maintain continuity and up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technical developments
• Develop market strategies and goals for your territory; understand the strategies, goals, and objectives of accounts.
• Responsible for accurate sales forecasting by demonstrating in-depth knowledge of sales cycles from initial contact through the technical sales and procurement process.
• It’s important that you are comfortable and even driven when you have a very heavy workload, or at least that you work through it with a good attitude.
• Strong presentation skills are a must in this role. Being able to effectively communicate with customers ranging from freshly minted analysts, engineers to the CISO, C level executives will be a critical part of this role.

Required Experience

• BA or BS degree, or equivalent background
• 3+ years of exceeding sales quota as a Major or Large Account Manager, Channel Account Manager, or Territory Account Manager for a multinational company.
• 3+ years of IT sales experience as a direct contributor.
• Deep understanding of channel partners and a channel-centric go-to market approach.
• Proven knowledge in selling complex solutions.
• Have sold network infrastructure-based security products.
• Good SalesForce.com discipline is a must.
• Work in security or parallel software business

Niagara Networks has an opening in our Fremont engineering center for an experienced embedded software engineer. As a member of our geographically diverse embedded software team, you’ll work closely with product management and hardware engineers to conceptualize, design, implement and support the software that drives our TAPs, Bypass Switches, and Network Packet Brokers. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, flexible and knowledgeable individual to grow with a fast-paced, fun and technically cutting-edge company. As a candidate, you should have at least five years of experience developing software for embedded network-related on a Unix-like O/S.
Qualifications:

• Experience in Ethernet physical and link layers from 100Mb/s through 100Gb/s (copper and fiber)
• Experience in developing device drivers for networking devices, preferably for Linux
• Excellent debugger of both software and hardware issues and have a well-developed debug methodology.
• Self-motivated and able to deal with dynamically shifting priorities
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Developed code for multi-core applications and can demonstrate a strong understanding of concurrent programming techniques
